St. Louis R&B/pop singer-songwriter Jordan Ward has announced a headlining North American tour following news of his sophomore album, Backward, set to be released on January 30, coming to The Underground in Charlotte on March 11.

Ward, best known for his song “FAMJAM4000” from his 2023 debut studio album Forward, began his career as a dancer specializing in ballet, jazz, and hip-hop, touring with artists such as Justin Bieber, Becky G, Janet Jackson, and Beyoncé.

Forward was named one of Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Albums of 2023, and Ward earned a nomination for Outstanding New Artist at the 55th NAACP Image Awards. He also supported JID and Smino on the Luv Is 4Ever Tour in 2023, performing at Dreamville Fest in Raleigh the same year.

Known for his dreamy, whimsical blend of R&B and pop, Ward has released two tracks from new album: “Juicy” in September and “Smokin Potna” in October.

The tour will feature opening acts Asha Imuno, Nate Curry, Nali, and Planet Giza on select dates, with Brooklyn-born lo-fi R&B/jazz singer-songwriter Nali — who released her debut album I Love Nali in August — joining Ward in Charlotte.

Artist presale begins Wednesday, November 12, at 10 a.m. with tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, November 14, at 10 a.m.
