Rock and Roll Hall of Fame metal band, Metallica, have announced new dates for their M72 World Tour, including a stop in Charlotte on Saturday, May 31 at Bank of America Stadium. This will be the first time the nine-time Grammy Award-winning band will perform in Charlotte since 2018, and the first stadium show announced at Bank of America Stadium in 2025. They’ll be joined by recently reunited Texas metal outfit Pantera, and California thrash rockers Suicidal Tendencies.

Formed in the early ’80s in Los Angeles by guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, Metallica’s debut album released in 1983, Kill ‘Em All, helped define a new era in thrash metal, along with their subsequent releases, Ride the Lightning (1984) and Master of Puppets (1986). In 1991, the band garnered international acclaim with their self-titled release (often referred to as the Black Album), which included hits like “Enter Sandman,” “The Unforgiven,” and “Nothing Else Matters,” selling over sixteen million copies, and topping the Billboard charts. They have sold over 125 million albums worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

Leading up to the show, fans can take part in several official Metallica events on Friday, May 30, including a sneak peek screening of Metallica Saved My Life at AMC Carolina Pavilion 22, a volunteer opportunity at Second Harvest of Metrolina, a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross at Bank of America Stadium, and the Blackened x Drew Estate tasting event with Rob Dietrich at Suffolk Punch Brewing with cigars, whiskey, and craft beer.

Metallica’s M72 Pop-Up Shop will be located at 1200 S. Graham Street, open Friday (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
