As the city of Charlotte prepares for the inaugural MLS soccer season to kick off in 2021, the franchise is already off to a good start with their content strategy. MLS Charlotte released a compelling 11-plus minute short documentary highlighting people in the community and several notable Charlotte landmarks including Thirsty Beaver, The Diamond, Brevard Court, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, and many more shots around the city.

Detailing several perspectives from Charlotteans on the newly awarded soccer club, the documentary offers commentary on the rapid growth of the city. Partially narrated by Mint City Collective president Jay Landskroener, the short doc also features music from Charlotte indie rock outfit Ancient Cities and a cameo from NoDa’s own Woody Williams a.k.a. the Funky Geezer.

Watch the short documentary Charlotte: America’s Next Soccer City by MLS Charlotte in partnership with Ally Bank.
