Ne-Yo and Akon, two of the defining hitmakers of the mid-to-late 2000s, are hitting the road together this summer, bringing their run of chart-topping R&B and pop classics to North Carolina. The tour stops at Raleigh’s Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on July 10 and Charlotte’s Truliant Amphitheater on July 12.

Ne-Yo first broke through as a songwriter, famously penning Mario’s 2004 smash “Let Me Love You,” before launching his own superstar career. His 2006 debut album, ‘In My Own Words,’ produced the era-defining hits “So Sick” and “Sexy Love,” and set the tone for a decade of success. He would go on to release four additional Top 5 albums, fueled by massive R&B/pop staples including “Because of You,” “Closer,” and “Miss Independent.”

Akon was equally inescapable during the same period, delivering a string of Top 10 hip-hop and R&B hits such as “Smack That,” “I Wanna Love You,” “Don’t Matter,” and “Lonely.” Beyond his own chart success, he became one of the decade’s most sought-after collaborators, lending his unmistakable hooks to hits with Young Jeezy (“Soul Survivor”), T-Pain (“Bartender”), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (“I Tried”), Styles P (“Locked Up”), Gwen Stefani (“The Sweet Escape”).

Artist presale begins Wednesday, January 28 at 10 a.m. (code: NIGHTSLIKETHIS) with tickets going on sale to the general public Friday, January 30 at 10 a.m.
