Steve Lacy, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his work with hip-hop, jazz, funk and alternative R&B collective The Internet, has announced a U.S. tour, coming to Charlotte’s Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre on October 22 and Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater on October 23.
Lacy released his latest studio album, Oh Yeah?, in July, marking a stylistic evolution from his 2022 breakthrough, Gemini Rights. The more experimental project blends psychedelic rock, funk, R&B, soul and electronic influences, with guest appearances from SZA on “is it cool?,” Erykah Badu on “pure colour” and Cecile Believe on “lovesexdrugbomb.”
Lacy won Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards for his previous album, Gemini Rights, propelled by “Bad Habit,” which became his first No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Grammy nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
As a teenager, Lacy joined alternative R&B group The Internet and contributed to the group’s albums Ego Death and Hive Mind. His 2019 debut solo album, Apollo XXI, also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album.
A sought-after songwriter and producer, Lacy has worked with artists including Kendrick Lamar, Solange, Kali Uchis, and Ravyn Lenae, co-writing and producing Lamar’s “PRIDE.” and collaborating with Vampire Weekend on “Sunflower.”
The 27-city tour kicks off in late September and arrives in Charlotte at Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre on October 22 and Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater on October 23. All tickets will go on sale Friday, August 14 at 10 a.m.
