The Womack Sisters, the Los Angeles-based retro soul trio and granddaughters of legendary soul singer Sam Cooke and nieces of Bobby Womack, will perform in Charlotte for the first time on January 20 at The Underground.

The sisters — BG, Zeimani and Kucha Womack — are the daughters of Womack & Womack, the songwriting duo of Linda Cooke Womack and Cecil Womack, best known for their ‘80s hit “Teardrops.”

Raised around music and performing practically their entire lives, the sisters have built careers as singers, songwriters and arrangers, including work as backing vocalists and collaborators with artists such as Solange, B.o.B., Mýa, The Game and Earl St. Clair, before releasing their debut EP, Legacy, in 2022.

They signed with Brooklyn-based soul/funk label Daptone Records in 2025 and released their self-titled debut album in August, produced by Gabriel “Bosco” Mann, Daptone’s co-founder and a key figure in the modern revival of vintage soul.

The 11-track album draws from vintage Southern soul, gospel and classic R&B, with warm, tape-saturated production and brassy arrangements providing the foundation for the sisters’ tightly blended harmonies. The sound evokes the era of their grandfather, Sam Cooke, while melding it with their own contemporary perspectives and stories.

The sisters are also scheduled to open for Harry Styles at Chicago’s Soldier Field in May as part of his upcoming Together, Together Tour.

Presales for the show begin Wednesday, October 7 at 10 a.m. with tickets going on sale to the public on Friday, October 9 at 10 a.m.
