Bandcamp, the online music company announced Bandcamp Live, a new ticketed live streaming service for artists and musicians to connect with their fans. Co-founder Ethan Diamond wrote in a post on Tuesday that the live feature will be fully integrated with the rest of Bandcamp:

“Bandcamp Live is simple to set up, even if you’ve never streamed before….This has several benefits: we automatically notify your fans when you announce a show, it’s easy to buy a ticket since so many people already have a Bandcamp account and saved credit card, and new buyers become your followers. You can also showcase your music and merchandise right alongside your stream in a virtual merch table.”

Bandcamp Live will also offer a chat option where fans can discuss the performance in a forum with a moderator picked by the artist or band. Diamond assures that pricing will be transparent, with the band or artist setting the price, and a flat 10% fee that will be waived during the introductory period through March 31, 2021.

While it’s not certain when live concerts will return nationwide, Bandcamp has made efforts throughout the pandemic to help stimulate the music economy for independent artists and labels. Their Bandcamp Fridays have raised $35 million in addition to the $126 million fans have paid artists on the platform since the pandemic began according to the website.
