The Tony Award-winning musical Shucked opens in Charlotte this week at Belk Theater. With a witty book by Robert Horn (Tootsie), a charming country score by Grammy winners Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally (Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow”), and direction by Broadway legend Jack O’Brien (Hairspray), Shucked is a feel-good musical bursting with humor, heart, and hometown spirit. Set in the quirky, close-knit town of Cob County — where corn is life — trouble begins when the crops suddenly stop growing. Faced with a mysterious blight threatening their livelihood, the townsfolk turn to an unlikely hero, Maizy, who ventures beyond the county line for help.
