Celebrate the spirit of jazz at The Bill Hanna Legacy Jazz Session, every Monday night at Petra’s. A tribute to the late, great Bill Hanna, who was widely known as the godfather of Charlotte jazz. The weekly event brings together some of the city’s best musicians for a night of improvisational performances.

A one-of-a-kind interactive gaming experience, Monopoly Lifesized: Travel Edition transforms the iconic board game into a 70-minute adventure at Blume Studios. Players navigate a giant Monopoly board featuring classic spaces like Boardwalk, Park Place, the railroads, and utilities. Along the way, you’ll solve puzzles, crack codes, collect properties, and try to outsmart opponents — all before time runs out. A guide will lead you through physical challenges and immersive rooms as you buy property, charge rent, and try to break out of jail in a race to win the game.

Catch an exclusive preview of Electricidad at Mint Museum Uptown, part of Three Bone Theatre’s three-year commitment to stage Luis Alfaro’s groundbreaking Greek Trilogy. Written by MacArthur Genius Luis Alfaro and directed by Glynnis O’Donoghue, this modern retelling sets Sophocles’ Electra in the Los Angeles barrios, exploring violence, grief, and revenge through the lens of Chicano and Latino communities. The program starts at 6:00 p.m., with Mint Museum Uptown galleries open late for Wednesday Night Live. Electricidad includes mature themes and is recommended for adult audiences.

Mo’ Betta Thursdays is a weekly jazz event hosted by Braxton Bateman in collaboration with A-part[meant] — a boutique spotlighting contemporary womenswear, accessories, and local artwork. Held in the heart of NoDa at the market/bar The Exchange at 36th, the event brings together some of Charlotte’s top musicians for an evening of blues, funk, jazz, and soulful improvisation.

Celebrate Fourth of July weekend at the Whitewater Center with two days of live music, yoga, races, and family fun. Festivities start on Thursday with evening yoga, the River Jam Run Club, and performances by North Carolina Americana singer-songwriter Caleb Caudle & The Sweet Critters and The Woods, a Nashville indie-folk band.

The Town of Matthews kicks off the weekend at Stumptown Park with food trucks, kids’ activities, and a spectacular fireworks show. The park opens at 5:30 p.m., and admission is free. Enjoy food trucks serving hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ, ice cream, and lemonade with bounce houses, an obstacle course, a basketball game, a tall slide, and fun extras like an Uncle Sam stilt walker for photos, balloon twists by Curley, and glitter tattoos. Live music by cover band Too Much Sylvia starts at 6:00 p.m., and the Matthews Sportsplex will be the best viewing spot to catch the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.
