R&B group SWV, best known for their ’90s hits “Weak,” “Right Here,” “Rain,” and “I’m So into You,” made their NPR Tiny Desk Concert debut with the release of their performance on June 28. Some of the band members accompanying Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” George, and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons of SWV may look familiar for Charlotteans, as Queen City residents Shago Elizondo (guitar), CJ Mercer (bass), Toussaint Lipton II (drums), and Eric “E Will” Williams (keys) performed with the group for their seven-song set.

Currently on their co-headlining Queens of R&B Tour with Xscape, Mya, Total, MC Lyte, and 702, SWV stopped by NPR’s headquarters in D.C. to perform their hits “Weak,” “I’m So Into You,” “Rain,” “Right Here,” “You’re the One,” and “Anything.” The tour will arrive in Charlotte (July 17 at PNC Music Pavilion) and Raleigh (July 20 at Coastal Credit Union Music Park) later this month.
