Charlotte-based rapper Cheeno Ghee recently released To Whom It Concerns on October 10. The 10-song project follows Cheeno’s 2018 EP Child, and a group of impressive singles including “Off Da Strength,” in 2019. To Whom It Concerns continues the lyrical barrage from the rising North Carolina spitter and now Cheeno has released an Allen Iverson-inspired music video and campaign for the song “Savoir Faire.”

Slam Magazine April 2004 cover.

Incorporating looks from past SLAM Magazine covers, Cheeno recreates images from the Hall of Fame basketball icon’s life in the music video. “Growing up, AI was my favorite player. There was a period of time this year when I was just really nostalgic over the game. My love for basketball and how much that same mentality and drive I had when I played is still prevalent in my music career,” Cheeno said.

The music video shot by Aaron Kasey of Paac Media and directed by Cheeno and sister Ify Driver even got the attention of Slam Magazine on Instagram with a “This is everything” comment on the photo

The album which also features Charlotte’s Deniro Farrar with some poignant bars on the track “Saturday Mourning,” is a solid and cohesive set of tracks sure to impress any true appreciator of lyricism.
