A new Black-owned wrestling event, ASÉ (pronounced ah-shay) Wrestling is coming to the Grady Cole Center Friday night. The event, organized by Charlotte native, UNC Greensboro graduate, and professional wrestler, “The Revolutionary” Darius Lockhart, will feature six live professional wrestling matches paired with music curated by DJ Steel Wheel (AfroPop, Su Casa) and a special performance by Charlotte’s resident Dreamville artist, Lute.
Scheduled to be on the bill are Japanese Wrestling Legend Aja Kong, Impact Wrestling’s Jonathan Gresham, Ring of Honor’s The Infantry, All Elite Impact’s Kiera Hogan, NJPW’s Kevin Knight, and an eight-man tag team match between wrestlers from Georgia (Suge D, Owen Knight, Ashton Starr, and Trever Aeon) and North Carolina (Reyhan Inteus, Yahya, Ian Maxwell, and Movie Myk). Former WWE wrestler D‘Lo Brown and WRAL’s Chris Lea will also be commentating all of the matches for this inaugural wrestling event.
