The Hornets have been devastated with injuries as of late, dropping their last seven games including Thursday night’s 125-106 loss to the New York Knicks. LaMelo Ball has been out with a calf strain and is expected to be re-evaluated next week, while Miles Bridges hasn’t played since November 19 with a knee injury. Mark Williams returned to the court Tuesday night against the 76ers for the first time in nearly a year after suffering a foot injury prior to the preseason (playing limited minutes), but rookie Tidjane Salaun left Thursday night’s game with an ankle sprain.
The Hornets have struggled on offense shooting only 41.7% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range since Ball has been out. They’ll need a big game from Brandon Miller to defeat the Cavaliers on Saturday, who have clearly been the best team in the NBA this season with a 20-3 record, led by their guard tandem of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, and big men Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
The Hornets will also wear their City Edition uniforms and play on the special edition mint and black court Saturday against the Cavaliers.
