Truist Field

Charlotte, NC 28202
Tickets: $19 plus
The Charlotte Knights will take on the division rival Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) this week in a five-game homestand at Truist Field. Wednesday night will welcome our furry friends for Bark in the Ballpark night, and Thursday will host Baltimore Orioles legend Brady Anderson with the Knights taking the field in the 1976 Charlotte O’s uniforms. Anderson will sign autographs on the concourse for 90 minutes following first pitch on a first come, first serve basis.
In 1976, wrestling promoter Jim Crockett Jr. bought the Asheville Orioles, and relocated the Double-A affiliate of the Orioles to the Queen City. Hall of Famers Eddie Murray and Cal Ripken both played for the Charlotte O’s, and Ripken led the team to their first Southern League championship in 1980. Following the 1987 season, George Shinn, founder of the Charlotte Hornets, bought the team, and in 1988, the team was renamed the Charlotte Knights. The team’s 13-year affiliation with the Baltimore Orioles ended after the 1988 season.
The first 1,000 attendees Thursday night will also receive a Summer Games Beanie Animal with $1 hot dogs, $3 bottomless sodas, and $4 domestic draft beers. Friday and Saturday night will offer post-game fireworks with a Renaissance-themed evening featuring dragons, knights, fairies, and jugglers on Friday night. Saturday’s game will raise awareness for mental health in the Charlotte community, and Sunday will be dedicated to the youth with a hat giveaway (first 1,500 in attendance), dinosaur theme, and kid able to run the bases following the game.
