Charlotte Pride Festival returns for a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and community this weekend in Uptown. Held annually since 2001, it has grown to become the largest Pride event in the Carolinas and the city’s largest parade. Taking place on South Tryon Street, the festival will feature main stage musical performances by Grammy Award-winning folk-rock singer-songwriter and musician Paula Cole, and Atlanta rapper Baby Tate.
Fast-rising country artist Reyna Roberts, who was featured on Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter (on the track “Blackbiird”) will also perform at the festival this year along with Queen City alternative rockers Modern Alibi. National, regional, and local artists will showcase a diverse range of music and entertainment across multiple stages.
The event will feature hundreds of vendor booths; including art exhibits, local nonprofits, retailers, and a bustling food court. New this year will be Flourish: A Celebration of LGBTQ Arts & Culture at the Mint Museum Uptown showcasing an expanded range of LGBTQ+ artistic and cultural exhibits, offering deeper insights into the community’s creativity and heritage.
Charlotte Pride’s roots trace back to the early ’70s and ’80s LGBTQ+ activism, with the modern festival officially established in 2000. Since then, it has seen considerable growth with attendance soaring from 10,000 to 260,000 visitors over the past decade.
The parade will take place on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on North Tryon Street running south toward 4th Street.
