Black Notes Project presents a special family-friendly concert featuring the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra and young rap phenom, Savannah “VanVan” McConnaughey. VanVan is a five-year-old Charlotte rapper who gained national attention through her social media accounts in early 2023 with the help of her father and hype man, Reggie McConnaughey. VanVan has amassed a large following since then, and recently released the music video for her song, “PULL OUT THE KEYS,” following her debut single, “Playing Outside Everyday,” in May. She performed alongside MC Lyte at the Kennedy Center in December to honor legendary rapper and actor Queen Latifah, and performed at Essence Festival over the summer in New Orleans.

The Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform new songs from their rehearsed repertoire from composers like Florence Price, Duke Ellington, and Nia Imani Franklin.
