Founded in 1969 by dancer and choreographer Arthur Mitchell, Dance Theatre of Harlem is a leading dance institution with a professional touring company, a studio school, and international education programs. Widely known as the first Black classical ballet company, Dance Theatre of Harlem has grown into a multi-cultural dance institution that continues to set standards in performing arts. This year marks the 55th anniversary season for Dance Theatre of Harlem and the 90th birthday of late founder, Arthur Mitchell.
