The Lion King is the Tony Award-winning stage musical featuring music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, with additional contributions from Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. Based on Disney’s 1994 animated film, the musical is directed by Julie Taymor and includes actors in vibrant costumes and giant puppets. Over 100 million people worldwide have experienced the musical, which has won six Tony Awards including Best Musical.
