Founded in 1973, the Double Door Inn was one of the oldest blues music venues in the country before it permanently closed in 2017, hosting artists such as Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and the Avett Brothers. The Neighborhood Theatre will celebrate what would have been the 50th anniversary of the venue on Sunday with The Spongetones, Lenny Federal Band, and a special tribute to the Monday Night All Stars with Shana Blake.
The Independent Picture House will also screen the documentary, Live From The Double Door Inn, on December 22 with a never-before-screened bonus feature on Nick Karres, the venue owner. Following the film, there will also be a panel discussion featuring Karres and the filmmakers Jay Ahuja, Rick Fitts, Kim Brattain, and Chuck Bludsworth.
