Snug Harbor celebrates their 16th anniversary with a special Friday night show featuring Kaleta & Super Yamba Band and Tumbao.

Kaleta & Super Yamba Band are a Brooklyn-based Afro-funk collective fronted by Afrobeat and Juju legend Leon Ligan-Majek, a.k.a. Kaleta. From the West African country of Benin Republic growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, Kaleta has performed and toured the world with Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Majek Fashek, Lauryn Hill, and more. Blending their own unique combination of Afro-funk and Afro-rock, Kaleta sings in several different languages native to West Africa including Fon, Goun, Yoruba and Ewe, along with French and Pidgin English, “the official language of Afrobeat.”

Tumbao is a high-energy neo-Latin jazz band formed in 2019 from Raleigh consisting of Diego Avilez (piano, vocals), Rey Riera (congas), Julian Denton (bass), Logan Maxwell (saxophone), AJ Reynolds (saxophone), Rody Josué Huertas (trombone), Aaron Lane (trumpet), Tommy Quinn (guitar), Mike Buckley (guitar), and Ryan Masecar (drums). The bands sound reflects the many different musical flavors of Latin America like salsa, funk, Latin rock, and R&B.
