Raphael Saadiq will reunite with his brother D’Wayne Wiggins and his cousin Tim Christian Riley, to tour as multi-platinum R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! for the first time in nearly 25 years. The reunion tour will hit 25 cities including Charlotte on September 22 at Ovens Auditorium, Durham on October 1 at DPAC, and Greensboro on October 19 at Steven Tanger Center.
Saadiq will be performing his solo music (and select songs he’s written for other artists) along with the many hits of Tony! Toni! Toné! with the original band members.
In order to preserve the energy in the room, there will be no cellphones, cameras or recording devices allowed. All phones and smart watches will be secured in pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show.
Tony! Toni! Toné! released their debut album Who? in 1988 followed by The Revival in 1990, and their most commercially successful project, Sons of Soul, in 1993 before disbanding in 1996 after the release of their fourth album, House of Music.
Saadiq was also a member of The Ummah, a music collective alongside D’Angelo, Q-Tip, and J Dilla, and the founding member of the supergroup Lucy Pearl with Dawn Robinson and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest. He has produced music for Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, En Vogue, D’Angelo, Whitney Houston, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Solange Knowles, John Legend, and many more throughout his career, also releasing five studio albums as a solo artist with his latest, Jimmy Lee, in 2019.
