Coming off the release of Rapsody’s fourth studio album, Please Don’t Cry, the Snow Hill, North Carolina native and Jamla/Roc Nation rapper will conclude her world tour this week with homecoming shows in Charlotte and Raleigh (October 27 at Lincoln Theatre). Please Don’t Cry, Rapsody’s first album since 2019’s Eve, is her most personal work to date, featuring Erykah Badu, Lil Wayne, Alex Isley, Baby Tate, and Mantragold with narration by Phylicia Rashad.
Rapsody’s 2017 album, Laila’s Wisdom, earned Grammy nominations for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song (“Sassy”), featuring collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Terrace Martin, Busta Rhymes, PJ Morton, and BJ The Chicago Kid. In 2019, she released her third studio project, Eve, a concept album paying homage to influential Black women throughout history, including figures like Nina Simone, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, and Serena Williams.
Rapsody will be joined by rapper Niko Brim as an opener, who is featured on four of the 22 tracks on Please Don’t Cry. The Mount Vernon, New York native, Brim, released his latest album, Hues, on March 22.
LARA’ (formerly known as Eimaral Sol) is a Texas-based R&B/neo-soul singer-songwriter who released her debut album as LARA’, Luvology, on August 23, executive produced BLK ODYSSY.
