Tank and the Bangas are a New Orleans musical group led by the dynamic Tarriona “Tank” Ball. The band rose to prominence winning the 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest, earning a nomination for Best New Artist at the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2020. The band has released three studio albums: Thinktank (2013), Green Balloon (2019), and Red Balloon (2022).

“The work of Durham’s Tre. Charles is amalgamous at its core, blending atmospheric folk with R&B melodies and trap-inspired production, providing a unique glimpse into the songwriter’s psyche. Charles creates vast soundscapes with droning pads and reverb-washed harmonies to give space for his entrancing vocals to weave in and out the rhythms. The opening track to his latest EP, “Lately” laments a hustle-heavy lifestyle, juxtaposed with a downtempo arrangement, while tracks like “Memory” and the record’s closer “Stessin.” are much more melodically driven tracks.
