Western Carolina has been on the minds of many including natives James Taylor and Luke Combs, who will be joining forces for a “Concert for Carolina” benefiting Hurricane Helene victims in the state. On Saturday, October 26, Bank of America Stadium will host the concert event that will also feature country pop star Sheryl Crow, North Carolina’s own Avett Brothers, bluegrass phenom Billy Strings, and Eric Church. Combs, who was born in Huntersville and grew up in Asheville, attending Appalachian State University before pursuing music, sold out two nights at Bank of America Stadium back in 2023.
Taylor, who was born in Boston, but grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is a six-time Grammy Award-winner who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. He is best known for his iconic songs “Carolina in My Mind,” “Fire and Rain,” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”
North Carolina natives The Avett Brothers, Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice, and Parmalee will also be joining the lineup, and the concert will now be live streamed on Veeps ($24.99, but free for those in affected areas) to ensure all fans will be able to watch the concert after tickets sold out immediately. The stream will provide an additional opportunity to raise funds for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
The event will be hosted by ESPN’s Marty Smith and Asheville native Caleb Pressley, a media personality for Barstool Sports. Proceeds from the concert will support relief organizations aiding those affected by Hurricane Helene, with funds split between Church’s Chief Cares Foundation and charities selected by Luke Combs. Combs’ donations will be directed to nonprofits like Samaritan’s Purse, Manna Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Bank.
