The Strokes — formed in 1998 by Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture, and Fabrizio Moretti, and widely considered a defining band of the early-2000s indie rock revival — have announced a world tour, stopping in Charlotte on September 17 at Truliant Amphitheater.

Fresh off their performance at Coachella and the announcement of Reality Awaits — their highly anticipated seventh studio album, due out on June 26 — the band released the lead single “Going Shopping” last week, offering fans their first new material since 2020’s Grammy-winning The New Abnormal.

Thundercat, Cage the Elephant, Hamilton Leithauser, Fat White Family, Alex Cameron, and ÖLÜM will support select dates across the tour, although openers have yet to be announced for the Charlotte stop.

Kicking off in June, the tour will hit major markets, including a pair of nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a stop at The O2 Arena, and arena dates in Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. Festival appearances are also a major part of the run, with slots confirmed at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Outside Lands Music Festival, Summer Sonic, and Shaky Knees Music Festival.

Reality Awaits marks their first album in six years, as the Strokes last performed in Charlotte in 2022, opening for Red Hot Chili Peppers.
