Brooklyn rap legend AZ, who is best known for his classic golden era hip-hop hits “Sugar Hill,” “Rather Unique,” and Nas collaboration, “Life’s a Bitch,” will hit the road for a rare U.S. tour this year, making a stop in Charlotte for an intimate show at The Evening Muse on August 16.

Breaking through in the mid-90s after being featured on Nas’ Illmatic (on the intro track and “Life’s a Bitch”), AZ released his debut album, Doe or Die, in 1995 featuring the singles, “Sugar Hill” and “Rather Unique,” topping the rap charts. He was also a part of the New York rap supergroup, The Firm (with Nas and Foxy Brown), releasing their sole project, The Album, in 1997, featuring the track, “Phone Tap,” produced by Dr. Dre. He was also nominated for a Grammy in 2003 for his collab with Nas, “The Essence,” from his fourth studio album, Aziatic.

AZ dropped his 10th studio album, Truth Be Told, in December, and will be performing his “classics, new songs, and freestyles,” accompanied by legendary mixtape DJ, Doo Wop, on the tour. Check out the complete schedule of 2024 dates for AZ, who will perform in Charlotte on Friday, August 16 at The Evening Muse.
