Panthers great Cam Newton interviewed Bryce Young for the first time on the red carpet at the 2024 ESPY Awards. The two Heisman Trophy winners and No. 1 draft picks discussed Charlotte, the roster turnover, the fanbase, and the future of the franchise.

2011 Rookie of the Year and 2015 MVP, Cam Newton, started the interview asking Young how Charlotte has been treating him, in which he replied, “Good, good. It’s been great being out there. Love the city, love the environment.” Newton then asked how Carolina can replicate the success of his decorated championship career at Alabama.
“I think it takes everyone, accountability from all of us, for myself, first and foremost. And then us all having that mindset….forming that identity and creating that standard for ourselves,” said Young.
Newton consoled Young by letting him know that he understands the situation he is in: “I’ve been where you are, the frustration and even yearning for the success.” He then asked what message he wanted to send to the Panthers fans.
“I just want them to know that I’m giving my all. We as a team, as an organization, we’re giving our all, again I get it, being a sports fan…I appreciate how passionate….the states of the Carolinas are, and I’m grateful for that. I love being a part of that,” said Young
Newton ended the short interview by giving Young some age-old advice and dapping him up: “Everything great takes time, Rome was not built in one day. My man, my player, my partner, young killa in charge, Bryce.”
