Here are several Charlotte musicians and artists you can support on Bandcamp

 By Cameron Lee

March 18, 2020 (updated)

Now, more than ever, local musicians need your support. While many nationally touring bands and artists can rely on increased streaming numbers, publishing, and royalties, local musicians across the country have been devastated by the loss of income they receive from playing shows and selling merchandise. Independent musicians already sacrifice a lot to maintain their music careers, often working multiple jobs to pay for expensive equipment, studio time and expenses incurred on the road.

With this in mind, we’ve created a list of local bands and artists in a few genre categories so you can listen and support. In addition, we’ve linked their names to official websites and social media accounts so you can purchase merch and support in as many ways as possible.

Take some time to discover something new or revisit some of your favorites, but most importantly, support local music.

Update: After generating over $4 million in sales on March 20, Bandcamp waived their fees again on May 1 and paid artists $7.1 million from sales. On Juneteenth (June 19), Bandcamp will donate 100% of their share of sales (15% for digital, 10% for merch) to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
