Curated by professional independent wrestler “The Revolutionary” Darius Lockhart, ASÉ Wrestling, the Black-owned wrestling event series returns to Piedmont Open IB Middle School this weekend with seven professional wrestling matches and a special performance by Roc Nation rapper Reuben Vincent. The evening’s musical vibes will be curated by DJ Pauly Guwop and they are expected to make a special announcement with newly appointed ASÉ Commissioner, Caprice Coleman.
ASÉ (pronounced ah-shay) is a professional wrestling, entertainment, live event, and content creation company based in Charlotte, founded by Queen City native and 10-year wrestling veteran Darius Lockhart. ASÉ looks to transform the landscape of professional wrestling promoting diversity and inclusivity through the events that also incorporate musical performances. The word ASÉ is derived from the Yoruba language, meaning “the ability to create change” or “life force/energy,” which aligns with the company’s mission to uplift the community.
ASÉ’s debut event took place at the historic Grady Cole Center in December 2023 featuring Dreamville’s Lute, and the events have hosted WWE Hall of Famers Mark Henry, Ron Simmons, D’Lo Brown, and Theodore Long, as well as prominent wrestling figures like Aja Kong, Impact Wrestling’s Jonathan Gresham, and All Elite Wrestling’s Kiera Hogan.
