The Panthers will try to win their third consecutive regular season game for the first time since 2021 on Sunday. It will be a tough task with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in town, who are coming off their first loss of the season against the Bills. The Chiefs, who have been plagued with injuries on offense, still rank 11th in points per game (24.0), while their fifth-ranked defense has helped propel them to a 9-1 record.
Bryce Young will get his third straight start after leading the Panthers over the Giants in Germany and back-to-back wins for the first time in his career. While Carolina’s offense ranks dead last in total yards per game, one big bright spot this season has been running back Chuba Hubbard, who is fourth in the league in rushing yards with 818. They’ll need both Hubbard and rookie Jonathon Brooks to make plays against the stout Kansas City run defense which ranks third in the NFL. Brooks, the second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, will get his first action in a Panthers uniform after tearing his ACL at Texas in November 2023. Left tackle Ickey Ekwonu and wide receiver Adam Thielen will also return from injuries following the bye week.
