The Charlotte Checkers have started the season off strong with 6-1-0-1 record, and will return home for back-to-back games against the second place North Division Toronto Marlies this weekend. The Checkers’ start to the season ties the second-best in franchise history, and they only trail the Hershey Bears in the Atlantic Division, who have played three more games.
A key to Charlotte’s early success has been their red-hot power play, leading the AHL with an impressive 40.5% conversion rate, which is nearly 13 percentage points higher than any other team. They’ve recorded a power-play goal in every game so far this season, and more than one in four games. Aidan McDonough leads the team with eight goals and Rasmus Asplund with five, while defenseman Trevor Carrick has also been a standout player, currently with a seven-game point streak.
Charlotte Checkers vs. Toronto Marlies:

Sunday, November 10 at 4:00 p.m. (Military Night)
