Cirque du Soleil’s enchanting arena show, Corteo, returns to Charlotte this week. Corteo, which means cortege (a festive parade imagined by a clown) in Italian, combines acting and acrobatics to create a theatrical experience filled with humor and spontaneity. It highlights the clown’s strength and vulnerability, wisdom, and kindness, reflecting humanity’s essence. The playful music guides the audience through a celebration where illusion meets reality.

Corteo features a central stage dividing the arena, allowing each half of the audience to face the other, providing a unique perspective of the show and a performer’s view of the audience. The set design, inspired by the Eiffel Tower with hand-painted curtains, adds to the show’s grandeur and poetic atmosphere.
