Harlem-based pianist, composer, and bandleader, Emmet Cohen and his trio will return to Charlotte’s Stage Door Theater to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month at The Jazz Room. Creator of the Masters Legacy Series, a project that pays tribute to jazz music legends, Cohen is a multidisciplinary artist that has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Newport, Monterey, and North Sea jazz festivals.
Cohen has also collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Ron Carter, Jimmy Cobb, George Coleman, Christian McBride, Herlin Riley, and Jimmy Heath. During the 2020 lockdown, Cohen developed “Live From Emmet’s Place,” a series of weekly performances by his trio and special guests live-streamed from his New York home. Cohen released his latest studio album, Uptown in Orbit, in 2022, and Volume 5 of the Master Legacy Series with tenor saxophonist Houston Person, in 2023.
