Popular ’90s alternative rock band Cake coming Charlotte, Asheville, and Cary this summer

Cake, the California alternative rock band best known for their ’90s hits “The Distance,” “Short Skirt, Long Jacket,” and “Never There,” will bring their 2024 tour to Charlotte, Cary, and Asheville this summer. Formed in 1991 by singer-songwriter John McCrea and trumpeter Vince DiFiore, the band reached peak popularity in the late ’90s, taking over alternative radio stations with their platinum albums Fashion Nugget (1996) and Prolonging the Magic (1998).

Known for blending genres such as mariachi, funk, and rock, Cake will make three stops in North Carolina including Cary on August 6 (Koka Booth Amphitheater), Charlotte on August 7 (Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre), and Asheville on August 8 (Rabbit Rabbit). Cake last performed in Raleigh and Asheville in 2018 and Charlotte in 2015.

Artist presale will begin on Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. (code: MotorcadeofGenerosity) and tickets will go on sale to the public Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m.
