Junior Astronomers are a Charlotte indie rock band, consisting of members Terrence Richard (vocals), Elias Pittman (drums), Phillip Wheeler (guitar), and Colin Watts (bass). The band has released two studio albums (2013’s Dead Nostalgia and 2017’s Body Language) and have shared stages with Manchester Orchestra, Modest Mouse, and The Weeks, also performing at Afropunk in 2014.
Bravo Pueblo is an experimental electro-pop band based in Charlotte with roots in Venezuela and Puerto Rico. The band is composed of siblings Liza and Claudio Ortiz, along with Lisandro Herrera.
Woody is a budding indie rock band from Charlotte, comprised of John Carstarphen (formerly of New Creatures) on guitar and vocals, William Schoonmaker on guitar, John Muhlbach on drums, and River Dawson on bass. Their debut EP, Sardine King, released on March 8, showcases the band’s ability to craft engaging songs with intricate arrangements blending rock, folk and alternative country. Woody also recently released three new singles in 2024: “20 Years Later,” “Microwave,” and “Davie’s 1st.”
