Multi-platinum R&B/neo-soul singer-songwriter and musician Maxwell will bring his 2024 tour to Charlotte’s Spectrum Center this week with Grammy Award-winning artist Jazmine Sullivan and Death Row Records soul singer October London.

Known as one of the pioneers of the neo-soul movement in the late ’90s, Maxwell’s 2009 album, BLACKsummers’night, won Grammys for Best R&B Album and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. He shared a new single from the forthcoming album, “Simply Beautiful,” in August, also performing a NPR Tiny Desk Concert in the same month. Maxwell is expected to release the long-awaited third album in his blacksummers’NIGHT trilogy (Night) sometime in the coming year.

Jazmine Sullivan is coming off her 2021 EP, Heaux Tales, which won Best R&B Album at the 64th Grammy Awards, accompanied by a sold-out tour that came through Charlotte and Raleigh in 2022. The Philadelphia singer-songwriter first gained prominence with her debut album, Fearless, in 2008 which included hit singles “Need U Bad” and “Bust Your Windows,” earning her five Grammy nominations. Her 2015 album, Reality Show, was nominated for Best R&B Album, reaching No. 12 on the Billboard 200. Known for taking long hiatuses between album releases, this will be a rare show for Sullivan opening for Maxwell, as she’ll play some of her most recent hits like “Pick Up Your Feelings,” “Girl Like Me,” and “Price Tags.”

Signed to Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Records in 2022 and best known for his old soul musical stylings, October London released two studio albums in 2023: The Rebirth of Marvin and The Greatest Gift.
