North Carolina indie music festival, Hopscotch, has announced the initial lineup for its 14th iteration in downtown Raleigh. This year’s event will be headlined by art rock darling St. Vincent, indie songstresses Faye Webster and Waxahatchee, along with rappers JPEGMAFIA, Boldy James, Previous Industries (Open Mike Eagle, Video Dave, and Still Rift), and Charlotte’s Mavi.
Known for bringing back nostalgic indie rock acts of the past, the festival will also feature post-hardcore band, The Jesus Lizard (their first North Carolina performance in 15 years); Ohio indie rock legends Guided by Voices; and a reunion of the ’80s Winston-Salem power pop group, The dB’s.
Other notable acts slated to perform at the festival are Los Angeles psychedelic soul rockers Chicano Batman, multi-genre Canadian instrumental band BadBadNotGood, 24-year-old indie rock wunderkind Snail Mail (Lindsey Jordan), comedian/musician Tim Heidecker; and Asheville’s MJ Lenderman, Indigo De Souza, and Wednesday.
The festival, which has always provided stages for North Carolina acts since its inaugural year in 2010, will also include Charlotte indie rock outfit Late Bloomer, who are coming off their latest album Another One Again; Raleigh garage rock/pop band Teens in Trouble; Winston-Salem alternative R&B artist Flower in Bloom; Chapel Hill dream country band Blue Cactus; Asheville post-punk rockers Secret Shame; and Charlotte lyricist Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon, among many others.
Comedy will return to Hopscotch this year after a successful debut in 2023, featuring Joe Pera of Adult Swim fame, along with up-and-coming comedians Katie Hughes, Rufat Agayev, Mark Brady, and Hanna Ljungholm. Hopscotch will again partner with Skate Raleigh to host a skate park downtown with competitions, food trucks and DJs.
The festival’s main stage performances will take place at City Plaza and Moore Square with club venue shows at The Pour House, Lincoln Theatre, Neptunes, Kings, and Wicked Witch.
Three-day passes for Hopscotch Music Festival 2024 (September 5-7) start at $149, and are now on sale. For more information on the lineup, schedules, and festival activities, visit their official website.
