Roaring Riot, the Panthers fan club started in 2008 by Zack Luttrell and Joe Ryan, have announced the lineup for their 2024 Kickoff Jam. The second annual fan fest that celebrates the opening of the NFL season will be headlined by Nashville alternative rockers Moon Taxi and Boone, North Carolina natives, The Nude Party.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 14 at NoDa Brewing Company featuring a full stage, tailgate games, a Football Fun Zone to test your abilities throwing passes and kicking field goals, and appearances by former Panthers players. Last year’s festivities saw appearances from Thomas Davis, Charles Johnson, Mike Tolbert, Sir Purr, and former Head Coach Frank Reich. WFNZ will also host a Fan Talk Stage, where former players will be discussing the upcoming season as well as memories from their glory days. NoDa Brewing will be pouring some exclusive beer releases and there will be a variety of food trucks on site for the event.
“For years, we’ve been kicking around the idea of putting on a festival that’s not just for Panthers fans but for the entire city of Charlotte and the Carolinas to help celebrate the beginning of the football season,” said Josh Klein, a partner and editor-in-chief of the Roaring Riot blog. “After how much fun last year was, we’re really excited to have the 2024 version be even better.”
Moon Taxi, who have performed at festivals such as Coachella, Hangout, Forecastle, and the NFL Draft in their hometown Nashville in 2019, are coming off the release of their sixth studio album, Set Yourself Free.
The Nude Party, originally formed on the campus of Appalachian State University in 2012, are known for their vintage psychedelic rock soundscape, and have released three studio albums through famed indie label New West Records, with their latest, Rides On, in 2023. The event will also feature performances by Charlotte indie rock outfit Deaf Andrews, roots rock band Simplified, and Panthers super fan and rapper, Cutty Cutright.
Tickets to the 2024 Roaring Riot Kickoff Jam are now on sale and start at $39. You can upgrade to a Jam Pass which will include access to the Football Fun Zone, WFNZ Fan Talk Stage, and autographs/photos with Panthers Legends for $70.
