CLTure and award-winning jazz/hip-hop multi-instrumentalist, Harvey Cummings II, will partner with Exotica Indian Kitchen + Bar at The Green in Uptown to bring you Soul Masala Lounge. A new and unique music and food event offering a break from the stuffy nightclub scene; Soul Masala Lounge will feature lively neo-soul, R&B, and jazz music paired with top-notch Indian cuisine and specialty cocktails by Exotica Indian Kitchen + Bar.
A laid-back lounge experience featuring a DJ and saxophone set by esteemed North Carolina musician, Cummings II, the evening will pay homage to contemporary Indian artists like Norah Jones, Raveena, and Dhruv, while also playing classic neo-soul tracks from pioneers like Erykah Badu and D’Angelo. From Moonchild to Frank Ocean to Cleo Sol to Robert Glasper, attendees will be entranced by the mix (masala) of progressive soul, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop at this unique food and music lounge experience.
Exotica Indian Kitchen + Bar opened in late 2022 in Uptown by the owners of Triveni Supermarket and Triveni Express, quickly becoming one of the best rated Indian restaurants in the city, offering an expansive menu and full-service bar in a quaint but modern space at The Green. While you’ll be able to enjoy classics like their Butter Chicken, Tandoori, and Palak Paneer; Exotica Indian Kitchen will present a special Soul Masala Lounge menu with dishes like Chicken Tikka, Lamb Seekh Kebab, Samosas, and Chennai Fried Chicken. Exotica also offers a wide variety of specialty cocktails, including their popular pear martinis; wine, champagne, and local craft beers.
The Soul Masala Lounge hosted by Harvey Cummings II will take place Saturday, June 29 from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Exotica Indian Kitchen + Bar (500 S. College St. #150, Charlotte, NC 28202) located at The Green in Uptown.
Admission is free, but there is a 90-person capacity, so get there early to grab a table. Parking at The Green Parking Garage (enter from Tryon St.) will also be validated by Exotica Indian Kitchen + Bar.
