Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala, led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker, has announced a new run of North American tour dates, including their first-ever show in Charlotte on August 1 at Spectrum Center.

The band is coming off the release of its fifth full-length album, Deadbeat, a collection of club-leaning psych explorations led by the breakout hit “Dracula,” which also features a remix with K-pop star Jennie.

Tame Impala recently earned its second Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording (“End of Summer”) and received a BRIT Award nomination for International Group of the Year.

Known for their versatile, dreamy psychedelic rock sound — which has evolved toward synth-pop and electronica — the band has headlined major festivals around the world and collaborated with artists such as Rihanna, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, and Gorillaz.

Tame Impala has never officially performed in Charlotte; their 2020 tour stop at Spectrum Center was canceled due to COVID.

Djo (Joseph Keery), best known for his role as Steve Harrington in ‘Stranger Things’ and his single “End of Beginning,” will open the Charlotte show.

Update: Due to high demand, a second Tame Impala show in Charlotte has been added on Sunday, August 2.

Artist presales begin Wednesday, February 18 at 12 p.m., with tickets going on sale to the general public Friday, February 20 at 12 p.m.
