Formed at the University of New Hampshire in the fall of 2019, burgeoning indie folk band Sneaky Miles released their debut album, Rivers Run Gold, in 2021, followed by their latest album, Cowboys, Songbirds, and Other Tales of Sorrow, in 2024. Known for their communal, late-2000s indie folk revival sound, the band has shared stages with The Backseat Lovers, Trampled by Turtles, Dr. Dog, Wheatus, and Rayland Baxter. Coming off much-needed back-to-back wins against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Charlotte Knights kick off a 13-game homestand this week against the Nashville Sounds. The upcoming series is packed with themed entertainment and fan-friendly promotions throughout the week, beginning Tuesday with Education Day, followed by Wednesday’s “Bark in the Ballpark,” where fans can bring their dogs for free and enjoy a complimentary caricature. Charlotte Checkers vs. Springfield Thunderbirds – Calder Cup Playoffs Round 1/Game 1 (7:00 p.m.)

After finishing third in the AHL’s Atlantic Division, the Charlotte Checkers begin their pursuit of a second Calder Cup this week following last year’s hard-fought Finals loss to the Abbotsford Canucks. They open a best-of-three first-round series against the Springfield Thunderbirds starting Wednesday night. The Checkers enter the playoffs with a 44-23-5-0 record, ranking third in the Eastern Conference and fifth in the AHL, powered by a balanced attack that averages 3.31 goals per game (seventh in the league) and a strong defensive structure allowing just 2.60 goals against per game (tied for fourth). The Spring Craft Fair at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market on Sunday will bring together makers, creators, and artisans for a day centered on local crafts and community shopping. The fair will feature handmade and locally crafted goods in a lively, spring-themed market atmosphere designed to highlight unique finds and support small businesses, transforming the market space into a bustling showcase of art, goods, and creativity while offering visitors a chance to connect directly with local vendors and explore a wide range of artisan products. The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market, which opened in 2005 as part of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services’ statewide network of public markets, includes dedicated sheds for farmers, crafts and specialty vendors, and a wholesale section serving businesses, and it has grown into one of the busiest year-round markets in the state.

Southern soul and blues singer-songwriter Marc Broussard returns to Charlotte on Sunday, joined by opener Seth Walker. Known for his Bayou-bred baritone and emotionally rich songwriting, the Louisiana native rose to national attention with his breakout album Carencro and the hit song “Home,” establishing himself as one of modern blues and soul’s most distinctive voices. The son of Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist Ted Broussard, he draws deeply from the Lafayette music scene while blending soulful blues with rock and roots influences. Broussard recently released a new album, Chance Worth Taking, on April 17, which also features Trombone Shorty and Joe Bonamassa.
