The red-hot Hornets will look to win their fifth straight game on Tuesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. The team is riding an unprecedented wave, having won 14 of its last 17 games while boasting the league’s best offensive rating and net rating since January 1. Kon Knueppel recently broke the rookie record for three-pointers in just 59 games and is now on pace to finish the season with 287 threes. Over their last 10 games, the Hornets are shooting 41.6% from deep, 45% from the field, and 85.1% from the free-throw line. The first 8,000 attendees will receive a Kon Knueppel building block collectible, and the game will also celebrate the AAPI community with a special pregame, behind-the-scenes ticket package.

Known for serving some of the city’s best traditional Mexican street food, the collaborative dinner will showcase an elevated extension of El Veneno’s food truck fare. The six-course tasting menu begins with refined street-food flavors — fried quesadilla, spicy shrimp, pork rib taco, and tuna tostada — builds to a rich lamb shank with mole negro, and finishes with classic tres leches cake.

Indonesian rapper Rich Brian returns to Charlotte following the release of his 2025 album Where Is My Head? Best known for his viral 2016 breakout single “Dat $tick,” his debut studio album, Amen, reached No. 18 on the Billboard charts, making him only the second Southeast Asian artist (after Jake Zyrus) to earn a Top 20 album. He followed up with The Sailor in 2019, and as a member of the record label and collective 88rising, Rich Brian was also featured on the compilation album Head in the Clouds and its hit track “Midsummer Madness.”

Comedian, actor, and musical artist Lil Duval will perform multiple sets at The Comedy Zone this weekend. Getting his start in the Atlanta comedy scene, Duval gained national exposure after becoming a finalist on BET’s comedy competition series Coming to the Stage, later becoming a series regular on MTV2 shows like Guy Code and Hip Hop Squares. He has also had a successful career as a musical artist with songs such as “Wat Dat Mouf Do?” and the 2018 hit “Smile (Living My Best Life)” featuring Snoop Dogg and Ball Greezy. Celebrating the life and legacy of director and producer Rob Reiner, Carolina Theatre presents a double feature of two of his most beloved films, Stand By Me and When Harry Met Sally. Reiner’s 1986 breakthrough Stand By Me, based on Stephen King’s novella The Body, is a classic coming-of-age drama starring River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Wil Wheaton, and Jerry O’Connell as four boys on a journey to find the body of a missing boy. When Harry Met Sally…, the iconic romantic comedy starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, follows two friends over 12 years as they repeatedly cross paths in New York while exploring whether men and women can truly be just friends. Widely regarded as one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2022. Stand By Me begins at 1 p.m., followed by When Harry Met Sally after a brief intermission, with one ticket granting access to both films.

Charlotte FC will play their home opener against Austin FC on Saturday under the lights to kick off a big year for soccer in the Queen City, as the city will host the MLS All-Star Game in 2026. Coming off a fourth-place finish in the Eastern Conference standings last season, they tied their first game of the MLS regular season against St. Louis City SC 1-1 on the road before following with a 3-1 loss to the LA Galaxy. The Crown will look to secure their first win of the 2026 campaign after giving up three goals in the first 13 minutes of the match against the Galaxy while recording only one shot on goal. The club looks to bounce back at The Fortress against Austin FC, who is coming off a 1-0 win over D.C. United, in what promises to be a raucous home atmosphere. The first several thousand fans through the gates will receive a limited-edition party shirt, and the team will also debut their new Crowns Up kits.

On Sunday, The Gantt continues its Classic Black Cinema Series with a screening of the 1947 musical romance New Orleans. A celebration of the golden age of jazz, the film stars legendary musicians Billie Holiday — in her only leading film role — and Louis Armstrong, and includes more than 20 musical numbers such as “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans” and “The Blues Are Brewin’.” Holiday portrays a maid who sings at night with a band led by Armstrong in this classic that showcases the rich musical heritage of New Orleans. Curated by Felix Curtis, former executive director of the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame, the series highlights the artistic value of Black cinema while fostering a deeper appreciation for its enduring cultural impact.
