Charlotte Pride Festival (taking place August 17-18 in Uptown) has announced its next round of headlining artists to kick off Pride Month. Previously unveiling Atlanta rapper Baby Tate as Saturday night’s top billing on the main stage back in April, Grammy Award-winning folk-rock singer-songwriter and musician, Paula Cole, will be Sunday night’s featured act. Fast-rising country artist Reyna Roberts, who was featured on Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter, on the track, “Blackbiird,” will also play Charlotte Pride Festival this year along with Queen City alternative rockers Modern Alibi.
Cole is best known for her ’90s hit songs, “I Don’t Want to Wait” and “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?,” from her second studio album, This Fire, which won her a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1998. She recently released her 11th studio album, Lo, in March.
Baby Tate, formerly known as Yung Baby Tate, toured with Charli XCX in 2022, releasing her latest studio album, Mani/Pedi, in the same year, and most recent EP, Sexploration: The Musical, in October. She has collaborated with Flo Milli, Saweetie, 2 Chainz, Ashnikko, and Buddy, throughout her career.
Also performing at Charlotte Pride Festival in 2024 will be electro dance-pop artist Slayyyter and Bob the Drag Queen (winner of the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race) with hosts Divine Holeburn and Malachi.
Founded in 2000, Charlotte Pride launched its first festival in 2001, growing to become the largest LGBTQ celebration in the Carolinas, expanding its programming year-round. The multi-day festival features a variety of national, regional, and local entertainers with a parade, pageant, and hundreds of vendors (including art exhibits, local shops, and a food court). Last year’s event was headlined by Miami rapper Trina and New Orleans bounce music pioneer Big Freedia.
Charlotte Pride 2024 will take place August 17-18 in uptown Charlotte. Check out more info about the festivities including parade, vendor, and entertainment applications from the official Charlotte Pride website.
