Comedian and actor Chris Tucker will headline Charlotte’s largest annual comedy festival, the Queen City Comedy Experience, returning September 6-10 to multiple venues in Uptown. Tucker will perform Saturday, September 9 at Belk Theater and the weekend will also feature Hyprov: Improv Under Hynposis with Colin Mochrie & Asad Mecci, a live comedy show that combines hypnosis and improv; In Living Color alum Shawn Wayans; Capitol Fools, a political satire comedy group; hit podcast Small Town Murder, and many more comedy shows featuring local and regional talent.
Started in 2018, the Queen City Comedy Experience (QCCE), founded by Joe Hunsaker (Special Projects and Event Manager at Blumenthal Performing Arts), Cale Evans and Karla Dingle of Queen City Comedy, and Brian Heffron of The Comedy Zone, returned last year after a two-year hiatus. The festival aims to build a local comedy scene in Charlotte, bringing in national headliners to perform alongside our local stand-up comedians and improv teams.
Performances will take place across seven stages including Knight Theater, Comedy Zone, Belk Theater, Booth Playhouse, Stage Door Theater, the Wells Fargo Prefunction Space, and the Mint Museum.
