The Hornets have unveiled their new City Edition uniform, which don the letters CLT on the chest for the very first time. The 2022-23 edition features a sleek black base and continues the mint and gold color scheme from the first City Edition uniform in 2020, inspired by Charlotte’s history as home of the first U.S. Branch Mint.

“CLT is a symbol of community pride. These uniforms are for CLT, Buzz City, and the people,” said Seth Bennett, Hornets Chief Marketing Officer at the media preview. “They pay homage to the history while celebrating and recognizing those that continue to bring the world to Charlotte and push CLT forward.”

The “CLT” trademark was licensed for the first time this year for the new uniform and associated apparel. Featuring the familiar Jumpman logo on the left shoulder, the letters and numbers on the new City Edition jerseys are gold with mint trim. Laced with coin-ridged pinstripes on both the jersey and shorts, another unique touch is the rendering of Queen Charlotte and “Buzz City” logo above the jocktag on the bottom left side of the jersey. The shorts feature a gold “C” with mint trim on the waistband, as well as secondary logos in gold and granite with mint trim on each leg. All jerseys this year of course include the No. 6 patch on the right shoulder in memory of the great Bill Russell.

The Hornets will wear the new City Edition uniform for ten home games (with a matching court), and nine road games this season. Debuting on Friday, November 25 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Spectrum Center, additional home games will include the Los Angeles Lakers (January 2), Phoenix Suns (March 1), Dallas Mavericks (March 26), and the home finale on April 7 against the Houston Rockets. Giveaways will coordinate with the “Minted Matchups” with items like a themed T-shirt on November 25, crossbody bag on March 26 and reversible bucket hat on April 7. There is also a “CLT Minted Mini Plan” with a ticket package for all of the home games available by calling 704.HORNETS or emailing tickets@hornets.com.

For the first time, the new jerseys and apparel will be available at the Hornets Fan Shop the day of the announcement (11 a.m. today). The LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier jerseys will be the first to hit the racks with a selection of other mint City Edition items including a limited edition mint “Buzz City CLT” Starter jacket (release date TBA). Anticipating strong sales, Bennett said, “this is the largest investment in merchandise we ever made as an organization,” and there are around “20 different items that are connected to this.”

Limited edition (less than 1,000) mint “Buzz City CLT” Starter jacket available exclusively at the Hornets Fan Shop (release date TBA).

The City Edition jerseys and accompanying merchandise are available at the Hornets Fan Shop (at Spectrum Center) open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at HornetsFanShop.com. Check out the remaining 2022-23 Charlotte Hornets season schedule.
