The Hornets will face a hot New York Knicks team in Charlotte Monday night for the third game in their current homestand, coming off losses to Houston and Utah. The Knicks enter the game winning 12 of their last 14 games (six-game winning streak) since acquiring forward OG Anunoby, and currently sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Knicks guard Jalen Brunson is averaging a career-high in points and assists (26.6 points, 6.5 assists per game) this season for the surging Knicks.
Monday night is also ACC Night, celebrating the conference’s rich basketball history in North Carolina and the recent relocation to Charlotte.
What to watch for:
The New York Knicks rank second in the NBA in perimeter defense, so the Hornets will need to move the ball effectively in order to avoid isolation possessions late in the shot clock.
LaMelo Ball missed Saturday’s game with right ankle soreness, and his status against the Knicks is questionable. Knicks All-Star forward Julius Randle suffered a dislocated shoulder vs. the Heat, and his timetable to return remains unclear.
