The Grass Is Dead is a band formed in 1998 that performs bluegrass versions of the Grateful Dead catalog of music. From South Florida, the band consists of Billy Gilmore (banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, pedal steel, vocals), David Freeman (mandolin, vocals), Brian Drysdale (drums, percussion, vocals), Ed Richardson (bass guitar), and Jared Womack (dobro). The band will be joined by Charlotte’s own, Josh Daniel.
