Charlotte has shown its attacking potential in recent weeks, scoring three goals in a 3-2 win over FC Dallas before earning a 2-2 draw against Philadelphia. However, a 3-1 loss to Columbus and a 3-2 defeat to Portland have delayed its playoff celebrations. Charlotte took an early lead against Portland on Saturday when Pep Biel scored in the third minute with his 13th goal of the season, but the Timbers responded with two goals from Ariel Lassiter to take a 2-1 halftime lead. Idan Toklomati equalized in the 69th minute off a cross from Luca de la Torre, extending his scoring streak to four consecutive matches and setting a club record with his 14th goal of the season. The Crown will look to capitalize on Montreal’s defensive struggles, as they have conceded 62 goals through 31 matches. Charlotte won the previous meeting 2-1 in September and will look to complete the season sweep while securing a postseason berth for the fourth consecutive season.
