Snug Harbor

Charlotte, NC 28205
Tickets: $10 plus
An offshoot event of the social audio app Clubhouse forum Himalaya Playas, founded by north Charlotte rapper Cuzo Key, Snug Harbor will host a blend of local R&B and hip-hop talent. Headlined by Key himself with his signature laid-back fluid Southern raps over mood-setting production, he’ll be joined by lo-fi R&B singer-songwriter Autumn Rainwater, Makeda Iroquois and rapper/producer and singer Belmont Jon. The promotional material also suggests there will be a special guest.
Cuzo Key
In recent years Charlotte’s Cuzo Key has steadily built his name as one of the area’s premiere kick-back rappers. Cuzo takes heady, downtempo beats from a slew of local producers and infuses them with bursts of lively rhyme schemes to add complexities to these already dense soundscapes. Tracks like “Norf Charlotte Wings” serve as a superb display of this, with a slow-burning sax sample and hissing vinyl crack, Cuzo skates across the lush production with tightly packed rhymes.
Autumn Rainwater in an R&B/neo-soul singer-songwriter born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rainwater released her latest project, lowkey highkey., in July of 2021.
Makeda Iroquois is a singer-songwriter originally from Long Island, New York and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Iroquois’ style blends jazz, R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop exhibited in her debut project, DEMO, released in 2021.
Jon Graham a.k.a Belmont Jon (formerly known as Matrix P), is a singer-songwriter and producer from Belmont, North Carolina who has released three albums: Creek Water Hymns (2016), Southern Fryed (2018), and Oh Laawd! (2021).
