Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra bass virtuoso, Carlos Henriquez makes his Jazz Room debut with his all-star ensemble, Latin Algorithm. Henriquez will perform a high-energy rhythm-filled fusion of Latin and modern jazz with new compositions and selections from his catalog. A special Jazz Room in partnership with the Charlotte International Arts Festival, the event will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
A Bronx, New York native, Henriquez studied music at an early age, beginning with guitar, and later bass at the Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program. Following high school, he joined the Wynton Marsalis Septet and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, touring the world, and featured on more than 25 albums. Henriquez has performed and recorded with artists such as Chucho Valdes, Tito Puente, Danilo Perez, Eddie Palmieri, the Marsalis Family, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Marc Anthony, and many more. He has also released three studio albums, with his latest, The South Bronx Story, in 2021.
The Jazz Room, JazzArts Charlotte’s monthly event series, provides a casual and intimate setting with tables and a full bar, reminiscent of the classic jazz rooms of yesteryear.
